Florida Cruise Altercation: Minnesota Mom Charged After Tackling Teen She Mistook for Son’s Attacker

Miami, Florida – A Minnesota woman is facing a child abuse charge after authorities say she tackled a teenage boy aboard a cruise ship docked in South Florida, believing he had attacked her son.

According to police, Paetra Grandsberry, 38, was traveling with family on a Carnival Cruise Line ship when the incident unfolded on Sunday. The confrontation occurred shortly before the vessel docked in Miami, prompting an investigation once it reached port.

What Led to the Incident on the Cruise Ship

Court records state that Grandsberry had approached a ship security guard to report that a group of teenagers had allegedly attacked her two sons. While speaking with security, she noticed what she described as “a group of kids running” nearby and believed one of them had struck her children.

Police say Grandsberry then ran away from the security guard, chased the group, and jumped on top of one teenage boy, grabbing him by the collar and forcing him to the ground.
