MIAMI, Florida — The Coast Guard Cutter Richard Etheridge intercepted a suspected drug smuggling vessel Saturday, approximately 8 miles off the coast of Miami.
During the operation, the joint law enforcement team discovered about 17 pounds of marijuana and 174 pounds of cocaine, valued at an estimated $1.3 million, according to a press release from the Coast Guard Southeast District. The substances were later confirmed through laboratory testing.
