Miami Gardens City Council approves El Dorado Furniture expansion after months of public backlash

The Miami Gardens City Council gave final approval on June 24 to the controversial rezoning of property adjacent to El Dorado Furniture, ending months of contentious debate despite continued opposition from residents.

The council voted 4-1 to rezone the vacant 4.21-acre parcel from single-family residential (R-1) to Light Industrial (I-1), allowing El Dorado Furniture to expand its operations. Councilman Reggie Leon cast the lone dissenting vote.
