Barakova Cowan told police that she ‘had a dream that required for her to complete a sacrifice to the gods to save humanity’
A Miami woman is facing felony animal cruelty charges after she cut her dog Sparky’s neck “several times” because she had a dream that “required her to make a sacrifice,” according to police.
After a two-month-long investigation into the incident, police arrested Elena Barakova Cowan, 37, of Edgewater on Friday. According to an arrest report obtained by Local10 , Cowan took the dog to a veterinarian for its injuries on Nov. 14 and Miami police became involved soon after.
Upon her arrest, Cowan told the arresting officer that “she had not had any sleep in approximately four days,” she “had a dream that required for her to complete a sacrifice to the gods to save humanity,” leading her to wake up, go to her kitchen, grab a knife and “cut the dog’s neck several times,” according to the arrest report.
Cowan reportedly also told the officer that Sparky had at least two superficial cuts and two more that were “deeper and overlapping.”
