A 34-year-old Broward County woman , Jalisa Hill, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder for her alleged involvement in the deaths of her grandparents.
According to police , Hill is accused of collaborating with her ex-boyfriend , Maurice Newson, to carry out the double homicide .
The case gained attention after an elderly couple, identified as Hill’s grandparents, was found shot to death in their home . Their red Ford Fusion was reported missing , sparking a police search for the vehicle.
Two weeks after the murders, a tip led authorities to a tow yard , where the car was recovered. Police later discovered that Newson had sold the vehicle for $200 shortly after the killings.
Further investigation into Newson’s activities led to his arrest . After examining financial transactions, authorities linked Hill to the crime when they uncovered that she had sent Newson $1 , 000 following the murders.
While the motive behind the killings remains unclear, authorities noted that Hill had been living with her grandparents at the time of their deaths.
