Aurelio Fernandez will oversee Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood as its interim CEO two years after retiring as the leader of the entire Memorial Healthcare system.
Fernandez was chosen for the position by Broward Health CEO Shane Strum, who recently extended his own leadership reach to also oversee the five-hospital Memorial Healthcare System.
Fernandez had worked at Memorial Healthcare System in various roles for more than two decades and his retirement didn’t last long. He returned to the healthcare field after only a few months to become Broward Health Medical Center’s interim CEO, followed by a position as an executive in residence at Broward Health’s corporate offices. Fernandez will continue in this role at Broward Health while leading Memorial Regional Hospital.
“I’m excited to continue to bring leadership and vision to both Memorial and Broward Health as they explore new ways to collaborate and elevate healthcare across South Florida,” Fernandez said in a written statement.
