The C.E. Long House, also known as the Peterman House, is on Sharar Avenue, in Opa-locka, Florida (Miami-Dade County). It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 17, 1987. The Long House is part of the Opa-locka Thematic Resource Area, a thematically related historic site.
The house was designed by Bernhardt E. Muller in 1926 and built by Carl E. and Hazel R. Long in the following year. Carl Long served as a town councilman and worked as a superintendent at the Opa-locka Public Works Department. In 1928, while no longer a councilman, he was the acting chief of the Opa-locka Police Department.
According to the 1930 U.S. Federal Census records, Carl, a native of Pennsylvania, was 39, and his wife, Hazel, a native of New York, was 35. When this census was taken, their son, John, was 11. He was born in New York. Their daughter, Barbara, was six and she was born in Florida. By the 1950s, Carl and Hazel were living in California.
