Robert Lee Hoover, the owner of Davie’s Family Farms, is vehemently defending himself against claims of animal cruelty following his recent arrest on multiple charges related to the alleged mistreatment of animals on his property. Hoover, who faces eight counts each of tormenting or killing an animal and causing death or suffering to an animal, was granted bail and has since taken to the press to plead his case.
Last week, following his release, Hoover gave a tour of his farm, during which he told NBC6, “There’s no neglect on our part, we have done fantastic care.” This statement comes despite the allegations brought forward by PETA and local residents, who have accused Hoover’s operation of keeping animals in poor conditions, including underweight cows and living areas that lack adequate sustenance. According to the same source, the Davie Police provided images showing emaciated animals and enclosures filled with mud as part of their investigation.
However, Hoover disputes these claims, and in a statement obtained by Local 10 News, he countered, “I have food receipts, we have the medications, we have management practices that take place, we have other people that care for the animals, that’s the truth.” Facing the potential loss of his farm and livelihood, Hoover lamented, “We miss our animals and we want them to come home.”…
