Shark Rescued By Lifeguards After Becoming Stranded Near Florida Pier

Sunny Isles Beach, FL – A hammerhead shark became stranded in shallow waters near Newport Pier in Sunny Isles Beach on Monday afternoon, prompting a response from local lifeguards.

Sunny Isles Beach Police officials said the shark, estimated to be six to seven feet long, was initially caught by a group of children fishing from the pier.

The children brought the shark to shore and released it into the surf, but it became stranded and was unable to swim back into deeper water…
