Women accused of operating insurance fraud scheme out of Doral clinic

Two women are facing charges after police said they ran an insurance fraud scheme out of a Doral clinic.

Valentina Villa Del Gordo and Sonia Villa Mizarvera are charged with racketeering, filing false insurance claims and organized fraud, accused of filing insurance claims for two men who police said staged a car crash back in May.

The women, who worked at Calama Accident Care Center, billed an insurance company for medical services and physical therapy they never gave, using blank and post-dated forms signed by patients, police said.

“It’s very common. We see it very often,” said Jose Beaumont, an insurance agent with Miami Insurance Brokers. “People open up practices with the intent, thinking, ‘oh, we can get away with this kinda thing,’ but down the line, people always get caught.”…
