The alleged attack occurred on a Sunday in Coral Springs, when Woodward became agitated while looking for a caretaker’s phone number. He admitted to police that he had intended to kill his mother “due to her early dementia and need for constant assistance,” as per the Miami Herald. After the attempted smothering, his mother managed to escape, prompting Woodward to call emergency services, confessing to the attack and stating that he was “going to hell” for his actions.
Following his arrest, Woodward was held without the possibility of bail and is now awaiting legal proceedings.
