The search continues for a 28-year-old Miami woman, Gena Yvonne Sims, who has not been seen since last Wednesday, December 3. The Miami-Dade police have asked the public to assist in locating Sims, who was last spotted near the 10700 block of Southwest 108th Avenue, as WSVN reports. Standing at 5 feet, 10 inches and weighing around 130 pounds, Sims is described as having black hair and brown eyes. The police urge anyone with information to contact Deputy F. Owens., and tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers.
Adding to the urgency, Christine Sims, Gena’s mother, has issued a heartfelt plea corroborated by family beliefs, that Gena made her way back home from Houston last Friday as confirmed by Spirit Airlines. Unfortunately, attempts to reach her have been futile, as her phone appears to be out of service, going straight to voicemail, in a statement obtained by CBS News Miami. The absence of any new posts on her social media handles, which include her last Instagram video for the Autism Theater Project, an initiative she founded to support her younger sister Olivia, adds to the family’s alarm.
The family has also shared an eerie final text message, dated just before her disappearance, which cryptically mentions “an emergency” but does not elaborate further. This last message has left her loved ones, and her mother especially, fraught with concern. Christine Sims, in a gut-wrenching appeal, underscores the atypical nature of this silence from her otherwise communicative daughter. In a direct plea to Gena, she says, “This isn’t like you. I’m not sure what’s going on, but you need to reach out to me, not through your friends, not through social media or you know. I understand I haven’t seen anything in that realm but you need to reach out to me, I’m your mother. Me and your sister are waiting for you to come home,” as reported by CBS News Miami…
