A massive federal sweep targeting a cocaine distribution network in South Florida has resulted in charges against two dozen people, with investigators uncovering not just a flow of narcotics but an active murder-for-hire plot along the way.

A federal grand jury returned a superseding indictment unsealed on Tuesday, charging 24 defendants with conspiracy to traffic large quantities of cocaine throughout Miami-Dade County and surrounding areas.
