MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputy was seriously injured Saturday morning in a crash on the southbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike between Northwest 41st and 58th streets, authorities confirmed.
MDSO Assistant Sheriff Eric Garcia said the deputy, who has been in law enforcement for 20 years and with MDSO for five, was on duty en route to work when he responded to a traffic-related call involving an entrapment.
Following the crash, the deputy was airlifted to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital, underwent surgery, and remains in critical condition. Garcia said he is under care and authorities have not yet been able to speak with him…
