Broward County Announces MLK Day Office Closures as Essential Services Remain Operational

Broward County is announcing office closures in observance of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday on January 19. According to an official statement, county governmental offices will be shuttered, but residents still can access many services online at Broward.org.

The 311 Call Center will not operate, same as the Homeless Helpline, however, after-hours support is available from 10 AM to 2 PM by calling 954-563-4357. Libraries across the county, including the one at Nova Southeastern University, will not be open for visitors, but digital services like e-books and online classes remain accessible through the Broward.org/Library portal.

Nature lovers can breathe a sigh of relief, as most county parks, nature centers, and natural areas will stay open except for a few, like Carpenter House/Marine Environmental Education Center and Deerfield Island Park. To clarify, the Markham Target Range will also be closed as per its usual schedule. A holiday gate fee of $3 per vehicle, accommodating up to eight people, is to be in effect for the regional parks.
