Oahu dad vows to surf again after brutal shark bite

HONOLULU (KHON2) — An Oahu surfer is recovering after a terrifying shark bite at a popular south shore surf break.

Koa Smith was paddling near Cromwell’s Beach on Saturday, May 30, when the incident happened. He had caught his first wave, paddled back out and was about to catch his second ride of the day around 6:30 a.m. when a shark struck without warning.

“So, I got down to paddle, and in that motion of getting down, it just felt like somebody came from behind and grabbed my ankle with two hands and just, like, pulled as hard as they could,” Smith said…
