Hawaii MMA stars team up to fight bullying, teach self defense

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Some of Hawaii’s toughest stars are teaming up to help spread the message this weekend that warriors don’t bully. It’s a self-defense seminar Saturday and Sunday at the Hi Fit Expo.

It’s the second time the event has happened, after debuting last year for what Macfarlane says was in response to the rising levels of violence in Hawaii.

“We are going to be doing some very practical self-defense moves, but more so, we just want the kids to have fun, like last year’s seminar was such a good turnout, everybody was laughing, having fun. So, yes, this is a serious issue that Hawaii’s youth is dealing with right now, with bullying, but we are going to be having fun,” said former Bellator Women’s Flyweight World Champion Ilima-Lei Macfarlane…
