Traffic experts explain the importance for teens to go to driving school

MILILANI, Hawaii (Island News) — School is out and teens are gearing up to get their licenses this summer but before they get behind the wheel, driving schools and the city are making sure they drive safely.

100 Deadliest Days of Summer are upon us, and traffic safety experts continue to remind not just adults but teenagers to drive with caution as we continue to see a spike of fatal car crashes.

Oahu has already seen 20 traffic fatalities this year. The latest claimed the life of 16-year-old Kalena Abelmann. Honolulu police said she was speeding down Pali Highway when she lost control of her vehicle, hit a concrete barrier and then fell 50 feet into a ravine. Officers said she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time…
