HONOLULU (KHON2) — It has been one year since Hawaii’s new moped helmet law went into effect, and more riders are seeing citations as police balance enforcement with education.
Many moped riders in Hawaii are still riding without helmets, nearly a year after a statewide law making them mandatory took effect in June 2025. It is hard to believe there is even a requirement in some neighborhoods.
