HONOLULU (KHON2) — You’ve probably seen wipes labeled “flushable wipes” in the store, but the City and County of Honolulu says don’t believe it!
Those wipes are clogging our sewer system and causing costly backups.
The City Department of Environmental Services, Environmental Quality Division, said it doesn’t matter what the label says – wipes of any sort that are flushed down a toilet can get stuck in your pipes, stuck in our sewer lines, causing ruptures leading to spills and possible sewer backups into your home…
