HONOLULU (KHON2) — A Kauaʻi teenager recently reunited with the first responders and medical teams who helped save her life after a medical emergency nearly 10 years ago.
When Helena Hazelton was 7 years old, she suffered a seizure while on Kauaʻi that left her unresponsive. She was airlifted to Oʻahu by Kapiʻolani Medical Center’s Critical Care Transport Team and Hawaii Life Flight for specialized pediatric care.
Thanks to the quick response of the medical teams, Helena recovered without any lasting brain damage. After receiving treatment at Kapiʻolani Medical Center for Women and Children, she was able to return home to Kauaʻi with no other health issues.
