First Alert Forecast: Good trade wind weather today

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Trade winds will stick around through the weekend and start to calm down a little bit early next week. Right now, there’s moisture that rode in with the trade winds; so the windward sides of the Hawaii Island and Maui got more rain overnight. But don’t worry—by later today and into tomorrow, drier air will be with us meaning more sunshine and way fewer showers on the windward sides. When we get to early next week, those typical trade wind showers will come back, and thatʻs Hawaiiʻs weather at its best.

Last night there was a bunch of moisture moving through on the trade winds, which caused extra rain showers across the windward sides of Hawaii Island and Maui. Some areas received between a third and half an inch of rain. This moisture is moving westward and will be replaced by drier air tomorrow, which means fewer showers and more sunshine. The trade winds will be breezy today but will calm down a bit on tomorrow…
