HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Changes to the forecast; high pressure north of the islands that was due to move off to the northeast will now anchor in-place for a few days. This means we will continue to have 15-20 mph Northeasterly winds thru Monday night. Winds will be lighter on Tuesday, then pickup back up to moderate to breezy levels Wednesday thru the rest of the week. This will mean added windward and mauka shower activity during the overnight and early morning hours. We’re not expecting any big rain systems to move in anytime soon, so the regular trade showers that may pickup to be moderate by midweek thru till the weekend.

Typical trade wind weather rules the forecast for this next week as an area of high pressure anchors itself north of the islands. It will start to pull away to the northeast on Tuesday which will weaken the trade winds on Tuesday then pick back up as the high pressure strengthens bringing back the trade winds thru the rest of the week.
