HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Good Tuesday! Keep the umbrella handy into tomorrow morning because we continue to track a slightly wet trade wind pattern over mauka neighborhoods especially for the eastern islands. An area of low-lying moisture is bringing pop up showers, especially to our usual windward and mauka communities, but even leeward neighborhoods could see passing downpours. Some of the heavier showers may lead to ponding on roads so give yourself a little extra travel time during the morning commute.
We’ll still have scattered showers into Wednesday afternoon before drier air moves in. By Thursday and into the weekend, expect a return to our classic summer trade wind pattern with breezy conditions, plenty of sunshine, and showers mainly focused over windward and mauka areas.
We’re keeping a close eye on Hurricane Fausto out in the eastern Pacific, and right now there’s still some uncertainty in exactly how close it may get to Hawaiʻi next week…
