South Carolina sends hurricane response team to Hawaii

South Carolina has deployed a special team to Hawaii to assist with the potential impacts of an incoming hurricane.

Gov. Henry McMaster announced on Friday that the Incident Support Team (IST) is being deployed to Hawaii to help the state prepare for Hurricane Lala. The team, part of South Carolina State Fire, is expected to assist the Honolulu Department of Emergency Management’s Emergency Operations Center as Lala approaches.

“Our state remains committed to providing assistance where it is needed while maintaining the resources and capabilities necessary to respond here at home should South Carolina face a hurricane or other significant weather event,” McMaster said in a provided statement…
