Portion of Tantalus Drive closed due to damage from Lala

HONOLULU (Island News) — The City and County of Honolulu announced today that a section of Tantalus Drive (near the 4.5 miles marker) is closed due to major damage following Tropical Storm Lala.

A retaining wall about 10 feet high failed during the storm. Damage is 120 feet long, extending 9 feet across the road at the worst point. No homes are located in the affected area.

The Department of Design and Construction is coordinating with the Department of Facility Maintenance to keep the roadway closed while assessments continue. A damage estimate is pending…
