Light rain was being reported near Daniel K. Inouye International Airport early Wednesday, and Honolulu is heading into a blustery day of scattered showers and partly sunny skies. Temperatures should climb to about 87 degrees, with east-northeast winds of 20 to 23 mph and gusts up to 32 mph.
Showers are most likely through late morning, when the chance of rain sits near 50%, then should become more isolated during the afternoon. The rain will favor windward and mauka areas, while most of Oahu gets breaks of sun, according to the National Weather Service Honolulu.
Afternoon Showers Give Way To Strong Trades
Wednesday night looks mostly clear, but the wind will not be taking the evening off: lows should settle near 77 degrees, with east-northeast winds around 24 mph and gusts to 35 mph. Thursday and Friday remain mostly sunny, with highs near 86 and sustained winds around 25 mph, gusting as high as 36 mph.
The strongest land impacts are expected in portions of Maui County and the Big Island, where a Wind Advisory runs from noon Wednesday through early Friday; Honolulu is not included in that land advisory. Oahu’s windward and leeward waters are under a Small Craft Advisory through early Friday, however, so boaters should expect rougher conditions offshore, per the NWS forecast discussion.
