HONOLULU (KHON2) — A Tropical Storm Watch is now in effect for portions of Oʻahu that include Wahiawā, Mililani and Waipiʻo. The City and County of Honolulu is urging residents to finish storm preparations this morning and stay alert as conditions develop.
The National Weather Service said tropical storm force winds are possible in the watch area during the next 48 hours. The latest forecast calls for sustained winds of 30 to 40 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph.

They said it’s important to know that the strongest winds could occur from early Monday afternoon, Sept. 7 through early Tuesday morning, Sept. 8.

A Flood Watch also remains in effect that may bring another 3 to 6 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts. Also, heavy rain may cause flash flooding, rapidly rising streams, dangerous road conditions and possible road closures.
