HONOLULU (KHON2) — A century of life, public service and leadership came to an end with the death of former Hawaiʻi Gov. George R. Ariyoshi. He was born in Honolulu on March 12, 1926, and died April 19, 2026, at age 100.
On Thursday, Sept. 17, Gov. Josh Green, M.D. announced that flags across the state of Hawaiʻi would be lowered in Ariyoshi’s honor.

The United States and Hawaiʻi flags will fly at half staff at the Hawaiʻi State Capitol, all state offices and agencies and all Hawaiʻi National Guard facilities.
