HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Nolo remains a very strong category 4 hurricane about 420 miles SW of Honolulu. Wind shear and drier air will slowly weaken the storm as it turns north on Tuesday. The center of the system is forecast to stay west of the state, but trailing moisture will mean another episode of wet weather Wednesday and Thursday… mainly for Kauai and Oahu. The showers could dampen Maui County and Hawaii Island, but to a lesser extent. The moisture could show up as early as Tuesday.
Surf is elevated along all south shores and Hawaii Island’s west shore. A High Surf Advisory is posted for those areas. A Small Craft Advisory is up for all Hawaii waters.
Breezy winds from the ESE will mean sunny skies and few showers for most neighborhoods today…
