KAILUA, Hawaii (Island News) – Students at Malama Honua Public Charter School had the awesome honor of bestowing a brand-new name upon an adorable Hawaiian monk seal pup born right on Mokulua Islets!
Students noted how loud and adorable he was, saying he was cute and loud, which inspired them to give the pup the name Makanaleo, meaning “gift of voice.” Makanaleo was born to RJ30.
The Hawaii Marine Animal Response (HMAR) reminds the public to give Makanaleo his space as he continues to grow.
