This year’s theme for the dance is “Love Never Felt So Good.”
The dance was first organized in 1969 by the Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation’s Senior Division, being just one of many special events planned throughout the year.
This year’s Valentine’s Day dance is free and open to the public. Participants of all ages are invited to attend, though the event will highlight kūpuna dancers from the 32 DPR Senior Clubs around the island of O‘ahu.
Those in attendance will experience tunes from the Royal Hawaiian Band, the only municipal band in the country. VIP guests and local celebrities will also be in attendance.
The stars of the show however, will be the hundreds of kūpuna dancing the morning away on the dance floor to ballroom hits and local pop music. Kūpuna can also participate in various line dances.
