HONOLULU (KHON2) — In the United States, it is the belief that Hollywood is the most important and prolific producers of film and television in the world.
But this couldn’t be farther from the truth.
In fact, there is another that drastically eclipses Hollywood’s production and influence: Bollywood.
Bollywood is the epicenter of Indian film and television. Each year, Bollywood produces thousands of films that have a fan base that is estimated to be approximately three billion worldwide.

Honolulu is host to the 2024 Bollywood and South Asia Film Festival that is taking place at the Honolulu Museum of Art through Jan. 26.
This is a great way to be introduced to some of Bollywood’s most important and most entertaining films.
The opening reception took place on Jan. 4, but there is still time to catch the final leg of this film festival.
