HONOLULU (KHON2) — Honolulu police gave out citations to motorists driving by Kapiolani Medical Center Thursday.

HPD said it was responding to noise complaints from family members of hospital patients and nearby residents.

Violators face a fine of up to $100 dollars or 60 days in prison.

It’s day five of the nurses strike.

“One night I needed a nurse and there were only two on the floor,” said ovarian cancer patient Shama Ko. “And all of us patients rang the thing at the same time so it took a really long time to get a nurse to come.”

“The doctors come in and they see you for maybe 15 minutes. It’s the nurses that are with you the entire time,” Ko continued.

The strike is expected to end at 6:59 a.m. Sunday.
