Taqueria Hawaii brings a twist of Chinese, Mexican flavors

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Owner Ruben Yanez explains Taqueria Hawaii as the, “Brainchild that mashes up the best bits of Chinese and Mexican flavors, sprinkled with a touch of Hawaii’s magic.”

Started with his other half, Co-owner Summer Liang, Taqueria Hawaii is inspired by their home places — Mexico and China, with the touch of Hawaii.

Their goal is to bring their customers’ taste buds on a fierce ride of Mexican street food with a flair from the other cultures they are connected to.

They said one of their most famous dishes is their BAO Tacos that have, “everything a street taco has but with a fresh homemade BAO flower/sourdough steam bread. So Uno delicious as we use local and organic ingredients.”

You can find them in person at local farmers’ markets. Here is a list just to name a few:

  • Aloha Market at Waikiki: Some Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Haleiwa Farmers Market: Some Saturdays 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Pearlridge Farmers’ Market: Some Sundays: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

They can also be found at some of the Kailua farmers’ markets as well.
