Man convicted of stabbing his girlfriend, slashing his own daughter sentenced

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Michael Gibbs, the man convicted of stabbing his girlfriend and then slashing his own daughter five years ago was sentenced today to life in prison with the possibility of parole.

Permanently disabled from a spinal cord injury after being stabbed by her estranged boyfriend Michael Gibbs, Patience Sallas said she’s haunted daily by the nightmares of the incident.

“You are nothing but a monster, you are a danger to yourself and to those around you,” Sallas said.

Gibbs plead guilty to going to Sallas’ Mililani home in September 2019 , dragging her outside and stabbing her five times with a knife, then slashing his daughter Alysia and Alysia’s boyfriend when they tried to protect Patience.

“You should be ashamed of your self for hurting your own daughters. You caused so much pain for me as well as my daughters. You say you’re sorry, you say sorry that’s all you ever did was say sorry. But then you did so much damage to us,” Sallas continued.

Sallas told the judge Alysia has permanent eye nerve damage and has had to undergo several surgeries to reconstruct her face. The emotional and mental scars are also what they’re left with.
