Despite his youth, there have hardly been signs of growing pains for University of Hawaii freshman Micah Alejado.
The quarterback enrolled early at UH-Manoa, joining the Rainbow Warriors in time for spring practices, which began on Monday.

After a week of classes, Alejado competed in Polynesian Bowl festivities along with the best prep football players in the country, although he says he was able to keep up with his course load of 15 credits.
At the start of spring ball, Alejado has looked comfortable under new quarterbacks coach Dan Morrison. As just one of four quarterbacks on the roster, along with incumbent starter Brayden Schager, Jake Farrell and John-Keawe Sagapolutele.
Despite the separation in age in Schager, a senior, and Alejado, a freshman, the younger Alejado intends to compete for the job and doesn’t plan on taking things slow.
“Definitely it’s what I expect,” Alejado said of his college experience so far. “I was expecting to come out here and just have a great team, get ready to work. And I feel like every day I’ve come out here, I feel like I’ve experienced that and much more. I feel like the energy out here is great and the environment is great, and I feel like we’re trending upwards for sure.
