HONOLULU (KHON2) – The current Wind Advisory remains in effect through Monday afternoon for all islands excluding Lanai due to the more easterly wind direction becoming more blocked by Maui.
The cool and dry airmass will slowly modify over the next several days as easterly winds traverse over warmer waters, advecting a slightly more moist and warmer airmass over the state.
Typical mid 60’s dewpoints and highs in the low 80’s will return by Wednesday.
Wind speeds will gradually trend down first for the western half of the state Monday then for the rest of the state Tuesday as the high weakens and drifts southeast before stalling near 30N.
The wind advisory may need to be extended for windier areas for the eastern half of the state into Tuesday, while Kauai and possibly Oahu will drop out.
More typical moderate to locally breezy trades are expected Wednesday through Thursday.
Clouds and scattered showers will remain focus mainly over windward and mountain areas with some showers spilling over to leeward areas, especially during the overnight to early morning hours.
