Sunshine with isolated showers on tap for the weekend

East-southeast winds are forecasted to gradually subside by Saturday, with showers mainly affecting windward and southeast slopes. Sunday and Monday are anticipated to follow a typical land and sea breeze pattern, with fewer showers expected. A weak dissipating front is expected to pass north of Kauai by Monday night into Tuesday. Southwesterly winds are likely to emerge by Wednesday as a stronger front approaches.

Clouds and showers moving within the east-southeast flow across the islands this afternoon. Showers will concentrate primarily over windward and southeast areas through Saturday.

A weakening of the high pressure system over the weekend is due to the passage of a couple of fronts north of the region. This weakening will result in a diminished and southeast veering low-level winds. By Sunday, the trailing edge of the second front will begin to draw closer bringing a few isolated showers. However, overall moisture levels are expected to be low, maintaining predominantly dry conditions.
