These educators voluntarily completed this rigorous certification process in order to show “that they meet the most advanced teaching standards in the nation.”
Governor Josh Green, Superintendent Keith Hayashi, legislators, representatives of the Hawaii State Teachers Association and others helped honor the new National Board Certified Teachers.
“Our National Board Certified Teachers are not just educators; they are mentors, leaders, and champions of excellence,” said Superintendent Hayashi. “They possess a deep understanding of their subject matter and a keen insight into the individual needs and strengths of each of their students.”
In order to receive the certification, teachers must be aware of the latest strategies and practices in education. Not only does the certification itself take between one to three years to complete, but it also requires applicants to send a comprehensive portfolio beforehand.
