KHON asked if there should be changes when it comes to keiki being adopted and when they are checked on.

“We need every child to be checked on,” said Governor Green. “One of the challenges we have is as soon as kids are out of the school system, they don’t get seen. That’s often the case with some of the children that we’ve seen that have suffered terrible injuries or abuse.”

The original case for Geanna Bradley was reported as an unattended death, but was later reclassified as homicide after further investigation and an autopsy was done. The legal guardians of Geanna were arrested and charged by police in connection with her death.

In a similar case that happened three years ago, a six-year-old girl, Isabella Kalua, disappeared and was later declared dead. Her abuse and murder was allegedly done by her adoptive parents.
