HONOLULU (KHON2) — A Maile Amber alert was issued for two young boys after last being seen leaving their Kalihi residence with their hanai father on Sunday.

The childrensʻ mother reported to police Monday night that she allowed her two sons to go to Palolo with her ex-boyfriend Sunday morning and they had not returned by the time she called HPD.
One of the sons called her Monday night, during which the ex argued with the mom over the phone. The call ended and there was no answer after the mom made repeated attempts.
HPD said at the time of the initial report, there was no report of abuse.
The mom told police Tuesday morning that she was alerted by a family member that her ex had struck one of her sons in his face. Due to that and the fact that her ex had never taken the children for that length of time without calling her, she was concerned for their safety.
HPD said at the time they activated the Maile Amber Alert, they believed the children, 11-year-old and 10-year-old were possibly in danger.
