Man, 46, dies after crashing into tree in Ewa

HONOLULU (KHON2) — A 46-year-old man involved in a single-vehicle crash succumbed to his injuries early Wednesday morning.

First responders said the accident happened in Ewa near the intersection of Fort Weaver Road and Aawa Drive at around 1:25 a.m.

According to police, the man was traveling north on Fort Weaver when, for unknown reasons, he traveled onto the center median and struck a tree.

He was then taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries and the pronouncement of death was made.

Police said he was not wearing a seatbelt during the time of the crash.

This is the fourth traffic fatality on Oahu this year. At the last time in 2023, there were seven traffic-related deaths.

The Honolulu Police Department is investigating.
