Right before 3:30 p.m., the “Criterion,” a 90-foot sailboat, was making its way through Waikiki waters when it ran into a reef just 500 yards offshore of Fort DeRussy.

Approximately 30 adults were onboard the vessel with many of them jumping into the water due to waves crashing into the boat.

Ocean Safety and other Good Samaritans helped transfer the adults to another boat, the Trident.

All adults were escorted to safety to the Ala Wai Small Boat Harbor, with no medical attention required.
