Snow, freezing rain headed to Big Island summits this afternoon

A winter storm warning for Big Island summits was downgraded to an advisory, which is in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday. While summit skies are clear this morning, clouds are expected to move in later today bringing additional snow and freezing rain, according to the National Weather Service in Honolulu. Ice accumulations of around one quarter of an inch are expected along with snow accumulations of under 3 inches.
