First responders search for missing person at Lanai Lookout

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Saturday was a busy day for first responders with Ocean Safety rescuing multiple people around Oahu and officials from HFD and HPD continuing the search for a missing man near Lanai Lookout.

Both Ocean Safety and HFD responded to a missing person report near Lanai Lookout in Hawaii Kai. Ocean Safety responded to the call around 8:15 a.m. with fire officials responding shortly after, around 8:22 a.m.

Reports said Ocean Safety lifeguards searched the ocean with jetskis while HFD rescue divers looked underwater, both searching within a 500-yard grid pattern.

The United States Coast Guard assisted with the search as well, conducting an aerial search of the ocean and shoreline area.

After spending the day searching, HFD and Ocean Safety concluded search operations at 4 p.m. on Saturday and will resume the search at first light on Sunday.
