Honolulu bribery trial for Dennis Mitsunaga delayed after he collapses in custody

HONOLULU (KHON2) — The bribery trial for former Honolulu Prosecutor Keith Kaneshiro and businessman Dennis Mitsunaga was delayed on Monday after Mitsunaga suffered an injury in custody.

According to Mitsunaga’s attorney, the 82-year-old fainted, fell and hit his head and was rushed to the emergency room.

Court documents state this isn’t the first time Mitsunaga has fallen while in custody.

The former businessman was taken into custody last month after alleged witness tampering of a government witness.

Mitsunaga’s attorney is asking the court to grant his release citing his serious health issues and recent injury.

A hearing is set for Wednesday on Mitsunaga’s request for release.
