Stabbing suspect indicted in Ke’eaumoku stabbing

HONOLULU (KHON2) — The man accused of stabbing another at a bus stop on June 15 has been indicted by a grand jury on an attempted murder charge as well as terroristic threatening.

Thirty-three-year-old Kealoha Tapu is accused of threatening a security guard with a knife after the guard tried to make Tapu move off of private property. The man ran away, according to court records, and Tapu left the area.

Court records revealed that Tapu approached a man at a bus stop on Ke’eaumoku Street, an hour and a half later, while holding the knife. Tapu and the man got into a fight and Tapu allegedly stabbed the other man in the chest.

The man was left with a critical injury.

Tapu is being held without bail and faces a mandatory life sentence, with the possibility of parole for the attempted murder in the second degree charge. He could get up to five years for the terroristic threatening charge.
