Five local soccer teams won the US Youth Soccer Far West Regional championships on Thursday at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex.

Over one week of competition across over a dozen competitions produced five champions from Hawaii:
13U Girls – Hawaii Surf
14U Girls – Hawaii Rush
15U Girls – FC Hawaii
16U Girls – Hawaii Rush
19U Girls – Leahi Soccer Club
The regional winners will advance to the national championship tournament, which begins July 23 in Orlando.
“Not just on and off the field, but off the field, they really love being around each other and it shows. This weekend they spent the whole time at somebody’s house and didn’t want to go home. So, they love being around each other. It’s a good team,” FC Hawaii head coach Jose Dydasco said.
“It’s always special. Being able to get off the island and be able to play all kinds of different competition, but to be able to represent Hawaii at the highest level is always an an honor to do that.”
