Kailua man becomes first Native Hawaiian appointed as White House Fellow

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Patrick Branco has made history as the first Native Hawaiian appointed to the prestigious White House Fellows program.

Currently serving as a U.S. Navy officer reservist, Branco has been placed at the Department of the Navy.

Branco previously served as a state representative from 2020 to 2022.

Increased Hawaii park surveillance without public approval

The White House Fellows program, founded in 1964, provides exceptional young leaders with firsthand experience at the highest levels of the federal government.

Fellows spend a year working alongside senior White House staff, cabinet secretaries, and other top-ranking administration officials.

Branco is also only the third individual from Hawaii to be appointed to the program’s history.
